One of the most basic things attorneys do is to collect debts. If someone owes you money and just won’t pay, it may be time to
go to court. If the right to payment is absolute, as for example, when you hold a good promissory note or IOU, collection cases
are billed on a time basis.
Sometimes collecting on a debt is difficult, such was when the debtor has no ready funds. Still, I will probably accept an hourly
fee, regardless of the amounts involved.
If the promise is oral, or by way of a contested contract, and the matter must be resolved through litigation, a contingent fee might be required. The only way to tell, is for you to send me the facts and let me contact you to discuss the matter.
